What Happened To Cris Collinsworth Brother Greg Collinsworth?
Greg was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2003, and Cris Collinsworth took him to Cincinnati for top-notch treatment.
Unfortunately, the treatment couldn’t prevent cancer from spreading to more than half of Greg’s liver, thereby ending the fight.
On the other hand, Greg refused to let the incident affect him and was more concerned about becoming a burden to his parents and big brother.
Even when he was sick, he tried to keep things as normal as possible, which is why he continued to build boards for his brother and even taught someone else how to do them properly so Cris wouldn’t be without them when he was gone.
Cris Collinsworth later told The Gainesville Sun the last thing he talked to his brother before he died on October 29, 2004.
Cris Collinsworth called his first Super Bowl with Fox a little over three months after Greg died, and you can guarantee he had some color-coded boards on hand, just like his kid brother would have liked.

After graduating from Florida State, Greg Collinsworth became a financial planner, and one of his clients was Cris Collinsworth.
He played eight seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals before retiring from the NFL following the 1988 season and turning his attention to broadcasting.
Greg aided Cris in a variety of ways over the years, not just with money.
While technology has aided broadcasters in-game analysis, putting together small flip cards, which most call boards, for a broadcast was a common technique back in the day (and still is by some today).
One team’s offensive would be pitted against the other’s defense on one side of the card and vice versa on the other.
Greg would make together cards for every show Cris did, color-coding them and offering incredibly thorough information on each player.
Regrettably, Greg was taken far too soon, but not before teaching someone how to do his brother’s cards.

Greg Collinsworth’s parents are Abraham Lincoln Collinsworth and Donetta Browning Collinsworth.
Abraham was a member of Adolph Rupp’s Kentucky Wildcats squad that won an NCAA title in 1958, and he was one of the top scorers in Kentucky high school basketball history in the 1950s.
