SASSA Status Check 2023
Often identified as the South African Social Security Agency, SASSA administers the Social Relief of Distressed Grant (SRD) program to lower-income households in South Africa. The Covid-19 Social Relief program is tasked with the distribution of government funds. Established in 2005, this relief grant has since supported various segments of the society, including foster children, the elderly, disabled individuals, war veterans, widows, and others. Multiple methods such as the Moya App, WhatsApp, or SMS can be used to perform the SASSA Status Check 2023.
The Moya app is downloadable from the Apple Store or Google Play Store. It helps to verify the successful submission of your application. The primary goal of SASSA is to assist its residents. There have been instances where some individuals, despite having their applications approved by SASSA, face issues in receiving their funds. However, they should be receiving these funds shortly and can monitor their 350 Status at srd.sassa.gov.za.
Requesting a Reconsideration for SASSA’s R350 Grant
SASSA rigorously examines the personal and financial details of applicants to assess their vulnerability. Reports suggest that communication issues with banks and other financial institutions are causing delays. The SASSA Reconsideration page on the SRD portal provides guidelines on contesting an R350 grant status. If an application’s status check is unsuccessful, it may be due to incorrect information provided by the applicant. The means test, which determines an applicant’s eligibility for the grant, is based on the information they provide.
To verify your SASSA status without cost, visit the SASSA website at The status is updated each time a means test is carried out, taking into account changes in the applicant’s financial circumstances. If the grant has not been previously collected, the applicant can go to any SAPO branch to do so.
