With a heavy heart, we mourn the loss of Marc Evan Becker, who left us at the age of 51. Marc’s brave fight against pancreatic cancer was a testament to his remarkable resilience and spirit that he displayed throughout his lifetime. He was cherished as a devoted husband, an unwavering father, a tender son, an outstanding brother, a treasured uncle, and a steadfast friend. Marc stood out as a warrior of virtue, a man renowned for his genuine integrity and warmth, touching the souls of all who had the privilege of knowing him. A graduate of John Glenn High School in Elwood, NY, he furthered his studies at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Beginning his professional path at Smith Barney, it was at Apollo in 1996 where he found his true vocation. Over the span of 27 years, he rose to become a revered partner, mentor, confidant, and colleague, marking his tenure with commitment and prowess. Beyond his professional milestones, Marc’s ardor for serving his community shone bright. A proud adherent of the Jewish faith, his exemplary leadership graced the Park Avenue Synagogue as its chairman. He was also deeply engaged in enhancing educational horizons, steering initiatives like Penn First Plus and the TEAK program, enabling underprivileged students to realize their dreams.
Marc’s deepest affections were reserved for his family, making them his universe’s cornerstone. He leaves behind his loving wife, Caryn, and their cherished children, Olivia, Willow, and Hayden. His legacy of love and insight will be carried forward by his family, encompassing his mother, Sharon, his brother, Scott (Melissa), his sister, Lisa (Ken) Lipner, his mother-in-law, Laurie Malden, and sister-in-law, Rona (Lou) Fromm. Marc’s remarkable journey will be commemorated in a funeral service on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Park Avenue Synagogue, situated at 50 East 87th Street.
