Gail Charles Goodrich Jr. (born April 23, 1943) is a former American professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) throughout his career (NBA). Most notably, he is remembered for scoring a then-record 42 points against Michigan in the 1965 NCAA championship game, as well as for his contributions to the Los Angeles Lakers’ 1971–72 season. During that season, the club set an NBA record by winning 33 games in a row, compiled what was at the time the greatest regular season record in the league’s history, and won the franchise’s first NBA title since moving to Los Angeles.

Goodrich was the club’s top scorer and was named to the All-Star team. In addition, he is credited with guiding UCLA to its first two National Championships under renowned coach John Wooden, the first of which came in 1963-64 after a perfect 30-0 season under Wooden. Despite the fact that he had retired from professional basketball 17 years before, Goodrich was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996.
