On June 17, 2023, Derek Zenk,32, of Webster, South Dakota, suddenly passed away.

He was said to have passed away in an accident, but the facts of the unfortunate tragedy are now unknown; authorities are trying to figure out more about the accident.:

On June 23, 2023, at 10:30 am, Christ the King Catholic Church in Webster will host a Mass of Christian Burial.

The deceased will be laid at the nearby St. Otto’s Catholic Cemetery. The church will have a memorial visitation on Thursday from 5–7 pm.

About Derek Zenk:

On February 3, 1991. He went to school in Webster and received his diploma in 2009. At South Dakota State, he continued schooling and earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture.

At St. Thomas More in Brookings, he married Megan Peters on June 21, 2014. The couple settled on the Zenk family farm, where they raised their three lovely children, Sawyer, Sutton, and Sage, with a fourth child, a girl, expected in September.

Derek belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Church of Christ the King. Derek was working in the Aberdeen office of the USDA’s Natural Resource Conservation Service.

Since he was a young child, he has enjoyed fishing. Fishing became a pure source of pleasure, passion, and rehabilitation. He enjoyed the isolation and taking friends and his young nieces and nephews fishing to share this joy with them.

He loved dancing, his favorite move being the jitterbug and listening to classic country music. He cherished spending time outside with his children, planting trees, being a herdsman, and hunting for pheasants. He cherished time spent with his family beyond anything else.
