Dave Elder Death: Obituary, Cause Of Death, Funeral

Former Major League Baseball pitcher Dave Elder, who played for the Cleveland Indians in 2002 and 2003, died on January 30 at 47. Other members of Mr. Elder’s family and friends have written about his departure, while the cause of death remains unknown.

There was no information given about the funeral services. He leaves behind a daughter, a brother, a sister, and many nieces and nephews. Everyone, including friends, family, and classmates, is mourning David’s loss, remembering him, and posting condolences to him on social media.

Elder, a baseball player for Georgia Tech in college, attended Booker T. Washington High School in Pensacola, Florida. He participated in the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Hyannis Mets as a collegiate summer baseball player in 1996. In the fourth round of the 1997 MLB draft, the Texas Rangers picked him.

In exchange for John Rocker, Elder was moved to the Cleveland Indians on December 18 after spending 2001 with the Oklahoma RedHawks and the Drillers. He spent 2002 splitting time with the Buffalo Bisons and Akron Aeros before making his major league debut on July 24, 2002. He threw 15 games over the season, going 0-2 with a 3.13 ERA.

At The Ballpark in Arlington on May 11, 2003, Elder allowed Rafael Palmeiro to hit the 500th home run of his career. Elder was later demoted to the minors, making this his final game in the major league.

David Elder was involved in developing several important college baseball players and some players who went on to play professionally while serving as a coach and instructor for The Bullpen, a travel baseball company based in McDonough, Georgia.
